APRIL BOY REGINO – OPM icon April Boy Regino died at the age of 51, his brother Vingno Regino confirmed on Sunday.
Filipino recording artist April “Boy” Regino is the one who popularized some of the novelty songs “Di Ko Kayang Taggapin,” “Umiiyak Ang Puso,” and “Paano Ang Puso Ko” during the 1990s. The singer is also known for his trademark caps.
April is the oldest of 3 brothers. His brothers Jimmy and Vingo are members of the group “April Boys.” They were all born in Marikina City.
In 2011, April Boy Regino revealed he has prostate cancer and in 2015, he was diagnosed with diabetes. It caused him to slowly lose his eyesight.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, November 29, Vingo Regino dropped the news that his brother April Boy Regino has passed away. He was 51.
“Nakakalungkot naman ang araw na ito… wala na ang kuya April Boy ko,” he said.
